Privacy Policy

1. Scope and Offline-First Principles

This policy applies to your access and use of Rowen on iOS and related web services. Rowen is built on an uncompromising offline-first principle: all your smart strips, dynamic calculation formulas, numeric ledger entries, custom steppers, and inline notes are stored strictly on your device in a local SQLite database. We never transmit, store, monetize, or inspect your calculation data on remote servers.

2. Account and Optional Authentication

Using an account is completely optional in Rowen. You can use all core features anonymously in Guest Mode immediately upon download without providing any personal information or email address. If you choose to sign in with Apple, we only process your Apple user identifier and email (or Apple private relay alias) solely to authenticate your session, maintain subscription status across devices, and prevent abuse. Your calculation ledgers remain exclusively on your local device.

3. Local Calculations and Natural Math Processing

All arithmetic calculations, unit evaluations, domain assistants (such as fuel dynamics, split calculations, and inventory tracking), and natural language math recognition (e.g., converting "Paint 450 + Roller 120" into numeric totals) are executed 100% locally on your device processor. No input text, formulas, or calculations are ever uploaded to cloud artificial intelligence models or third-party servers.

4. iCloud Backup Boundaries

Rowen includes an optional iCloud Backup feature using Apple’s native CloudDocuments ubiquity container. When enabled:

• Encrypted database snapshots are transferred exclusively between your device and your personal Apple iCloud account.
• Rowen developers have zero visibility into or access to your iCloud container, backup files, or encryption keys.
• You can disable iCloud Backup or delete individual backup snapshots at any time directly in the app Settings.

5. Purpose Limitation and Service Providers

Your information is processed strictly to provide core app functionality and subscription entitlement management. We engage trusted infrastructure providers under strict confidentiality:

• Apple Sign-In and secure session management for optional account authentication.
• RevenueCat for validating App Store in-app purchase receipts and unlocking Pro entitlements.
• These providers are strictly prohibited from utilizing your information for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking. Detailed ledger entries, numbers, formulas, and notes are never shared with any service provider.

6. Zero Ads and Zero Behavioral Tracking

Rowen contains zero third-party advertising SDKs, zero social media trackers, and zero behavioral marketing analytics. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data under any circumstances.

7. Data Portability and Complete Erasure

You have complete ownership and control over your ledger records. You can export all your smart strips, historical logs, and steppers as clean CSV files or JSON snapshots at any time. You can permanently erase all local database records via Settings, or permanently delete your account credentials if signed in.

8. Security and Safeguards

We implement industry-standard security safeguards, including Write-Ahead Logging (WAL) integrity, secure iOS Keychain storage for authentication tokens, and TLS 1.3 encryption for network communication. While no digital system is completely immune to physical device tampering, Rowen minimizes attack surfaces by keeping all data local to your device.

9. Children’s Privacy

Rowen is not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Policy Changes and Contact
